    Yes there are physical as well as emotional and psychological benefits from practicing the martial arts.

    Succeeding in just about anything can definitely help your self-esteem. Martial arts is one good way to do it. I got a great benefit from 12 years of TaeKwonDo. I would say if such schools are near you, you should absolutely give it a shot.

    Shaolin is more rounded, very acrobatic. You use legs and arms a lot and may learn many weapons.

    Wing Chun focuses on having very fast/skilled hands with only low kicks/sweeps. I think no weapons.
